4 unanswered goals on the board
The Eisbären Berlin beat the Schwenninger Wild Wings 4-nothing for seventh straight home game victory. “We needed some time to get on the board” captain André Rankel commented. “We had a lot of self-confidence going 2-0 into the second. We have to play a lot better to get a win on the road against Mannheim on Sunday”.
The home team needed just some time to score a couple of goals at the end of the first period. Mark Bell deflected Sven Ziegler´s high wrist from the point at the centre slot area besides Schwenningen´s netminder Dimitri Pätzold (16:51). Only 46 seconds later Florian Busch finalized a tremendous tic-tac-toe passing action with Petr Pohl through Wings´ zone. With Mirko Sacher serving a minor penalty for sticking Berlin´s power play unit outplayed Pätzold with quickl passes at the low slot area and Busch didn´t have any problems to make it a two goal game (17:37).
Midway through the second period Jens Baxmann scored Berlin´s third. He gained some speed from the blue line and hammered it from the left crease into the far angle (10:52). Later on Jonas Müller battled to get the pucks´ possession during the finishing period. He carried it into the low slot area. André Rankel picked it up quickly and pushed it over the goal line (09:36). The Eisbären won tremendously scoring 4 goals unanswered.
