Roosters´ snap Eisbären´s seven game winning streak
After seven consecutive wins the Eisbären Berlin saw their impressive winning streak break loosing against the Iserlohn Roosters 3-5 on the road. Meanwhile Iserlohn has a homestand winning streak with sixth straight. The guest´s couldn´t capitalize on their numerous chances outshooting the home team 43 to 26.
Chris Connolly opened the score board redirecting Kevin Lavalée´s pass from the right top besides netminder Mathias Niederberger with 05:47 into the first period. Later on defenseman Jens Baxmann took three steps into the slot area and hammered Sven Ziegler´s set-up besides home goalie Mathias Lange (13:04). From that point on both goalies demonstrated their saving skills and kept the scoring equal.
After a scoreless second period the home team capitalized on their chances during the third scoring 4 goals on 8 shots. Dylan Wruck overtook the puck at central ice and renewed the one goal lead firing it into the right angle from the left crease (08:41). Midway through the period Nicholas Petersen made it a two goal game converting a 2-on-1 chance (12:30). It came even worse for the guest team. With Kevin Lavalée serving a minor penalty for hooking Berlin´s head coach pushed his goalie in favor off a sixth player. Alexander Foster augmented the lead with a lucky-punch into the empty net right from the draw in his own end (16:16). With three goals unanswered Berlin found a way to cut Iserlohn´s lead to 2. Barry Tallackson deflected André Rankel´s wrister besides goalie Lang 49 seconds later (17:05). Brooks Macek´s empty netter (19:18) and Petr Pohl´s cosmetics to the scoring (19:56) finalized the 5-3 home victory.
